After thanking everyone for their excellent cooperation and their presence at the meeting, the Vice-Regional Governor of P.E.Evia, Giorgos Kelaiditis, stated:

«Through the successive tests and challenges that we have faced in recent years in the Region of Central Greece, the mechanism of Civil Protection P.E. Evia is methodically building its function, reflexes and effectiveness against the ever-increasing impending threats. The climate collapse we have been experiencing in recent years forces us to prepare for the worst, which we all avoid and can prevent if we all work together. In an anti-fire season that begins with apparently wild moods, we must all together, State and citizens, be ready for war but also especially careful in order to limit the possibility of endangering our natural environment. On the one hand, the State is scaling up its preventive and repressive planning to deal with forest fires by strengthening our Fire Brigades and intensifying the cleaning of our forest zones with brave funding, the citizens on the other hand must assume our individual responsibility towards to our fellow man and especially towards the future of our children. It is important to highlight the tightening of the penalties for causing a forest fire intentionally or negligently, which now attract harsh punishments for offenders, as well as the new legal framework for the obligation of owners to clean up their plots.»
