2. Configuration of coastal zone with:

- Paving, asphalting, marking of the coastal road of the settlement, which will be widened and will have a width of 12 meters in its largest part.

- Construction of a beach promenade along the entire length of the beach front of Platana with aesthetic interventions, provision for the blind to navigate and ensure the movement of the disabled, protective railings, stairs down to the beach and lighting poles.

3. Coastal protection projects, which include:

  - System of four (4) breakwaters.

  - Three (3) transverse cantilevers made of stonework.

  - Removal of existing breakwater.

  - Reconstruction of the south pier.

In order to connect the new construction with the existing beach, it is also planned to build (as a continuation of the northern end of the pier) a 10,40 meter long vertical quay wall, made of similar solid artificial boulders.

After signing the contract for the construction of the project, Mr Regional Governor of Central Greece Fanis Spanos said: "We managed to secure 7 million euros in funding from the Recovery Fund for the implementation of a project to protect the coastal zone of the settlement of Platana of Kymi and we completed all the studies and tendering procedures.

Today we announce the signing of the contract for the construction of the project, which provides for a new coastal wall and other modern coastal protection interventions. We are making the crossing on the provincial road Avlonari – Oxylithos – Platana – Kymi Beach safe and at the same time we are creating a coastal pedestrian path and recreational areas. We are providing a solution to a problem that unfortunately takes time and at the same time we are giving a new development breath to the beautiful coastal settlement".

Ο Deputy Regional Governor P.E. George Kelaiditis of Evia stressed: "A breath before the start of another emblematic project for our country, this time in the beautiful Platana Kymi.  This picturesque and welcoming coastal village, which is the key to access to Kymi and its port, will acquire, through a complex project of coastal mechanical protection and reformation of its coastal front, the protection it has needed for years against sea erosion, the traffic upgrade of the central road axis, the development of the local economy and the overall improvement of the quality of life in the wider area.  A project that we patiently and methodically matured and claimed as the Region of Central Greece, and we will work with great pleasure to deliver it in perfect working order as soon as possible to our fellow citizens."
